Why are you taking this class?

First of all, I became interested in the class name ‘Collective Intelligence.’ As a student majoring in Advertising & Public Relations, there are many team projects. So, the term ‘collective intelligence’ was familiar. It was a process to solve the problem (assignments) by talking and thinking together as a team. I think cooperation such as collective intelligence is often required not only for team projects but also for living.


What practical skills do you expect to gain from attending it?

Through the syllabus, I learned that Wikipedia is used in ‘Collective Intelligence’ class. I want to learn how to edit Wikipedia, and while writing articles on blog and Wikipedia, I want to have time to organize and learn about new topics such as what I learned and what I am interested in.

1. What did I learn while editing Wikipedia?  The most important thing I learned from editing Wikipedia is the joy of participating in collective intelligence. Before the class, I only used Wikipedia. But I was given the opportunity to edit Wikipedia through class. It is difficult than I expected to edit a steady every week. But I was pleasantly able to edit the idea that my hard work contributed to making a better encyclopedia. The joy felt when I found a topic that lacked explanation became the driving force for editing. I thought it was a small group of people and I thought it was their job to create a collective intelligence. However, as I edited, I realized that spontaneity and enjoyment were very important factors in creating Wikipedia. 2.
