W13.2 Wikipedia: Categorization / Kim Yoon(김윤)

Summary This article describes the categorization of Wikipedia. The goal of the category system is to provide links to articles related to search results that exist in Wikipedia. Users who know this function can easily find articles or related contents they want. In addition to category functions, there are devices that perform similar functions such as navigation boxes. When creating a category, think of the appropriate category name, and know the top category about it, so we are ready to create a new category. This should be noted because all Wikipedia must fall into at least one category. Interesting I don't think I've ever used this feature while editing Wikipedia, but I didn't know there were so many functions. Wikipedia is like an unknown world. Discussion So far, various Wikipedia devices have appeared. Which feature do you think is the most useful and frequently used?

W13.1 Help: Category / Kim Yoon(김윤)

Summary 'Category' is a function of Wikipedia that groups articles with similar titles into the same category. When we click an item in a category, it lists the documents that are tied there. This article also explains how to use category functions. In addition to exploring within categories, we can also use search engines to find documents in the categories we want. Conversely, you can also hide categories. Interesting Whenever I edited an article on Wikipedia, I was curious about the category features below. Through this article, I could know exactly what the "category" function is and what it shows. I've almost completed the Wiki project, but I wish I had known this feature earlier. Discussion What would it have been like without this 'category' function on Wikipedia?

W13 : After reading 'Categorization' / KANG NA YOUNG 강나영

Summary Wikipedia categorization is a list that divides topics, which helps users find information easily. Therefore, the category must be clearly named. Also, all Wikipedia articles must be in at least one category. Because categories are tree structures, subcategories can be included in the parent category, but vice versa. Finally, the category must be neutral. Interesting point I've never thought about categories in detail while using Wikipedia. However, it was good to know the fundamental reasons for the existence of categories and the attributes of categories. Above all, it was interesting to note that there should be clear grounds for categories and that they should be neutral. Wikipedia is a much more structured site than I thought. Discussion point Does Wikipedia's category help you edit or search Wikipedia's articles? If so, do you think Wikipedia's category is operating neutral enough?

W12 : What is “quality” for our societies? / KANG NA YOUNG 강나영

Summary Quality is subjective and changes rapidly over time. So I think 'quality' for our society is also required differently by the times. I have thought about the social atmosphere that members of society feel is essential to their lives. For former members of society, high economic quality would have been paramount. In the case of Korea, it was most urgent for people to make money to survive in a ruined country after the Korean War. However, Korea has grown rapidly since the war. So current members of society want a high quality of rights. Currently, most Koreans are not economically deficient. Instead, it seems that the most important thing is to be guaranteed one's rights. Discussion Point It won't be easy, but I wonder what would happen if everyone in the world had equal rights. If a world without discrimination came, what quality would society members want?

  1. Summary  'Categorization' of Wikipedia is a list of topics that allows users to easily find information. All documents must be included in at least one category, and one does not exist simultaneously in the upper and lower categories. In order to maintain a neutral view even when classifying, it is recommended to secure a basis to guarantee that the categorization is correct. It's okay to say that you don't know how to classify because someone else can do the right categorization instead. This is the unrivaled collective intelligence power of Wikipedia. 2. Interesting point It was newly discovered that all documents should be included in at least one categorization. Come to think of it, I've never been in a category while editing Wikipedia. Then, have other users sorted it out correctly instead? I was experiencing collective intelligence without even realizing it! 3. Discussion I wonder how to set the criteria for the appropriate category. What criteria and bas

1. Summary This article explains  the  categorization  function in Wikipedia.  The primary purpose of a category system is to enable readers to quickly find information on a topic. When naming a category, it is recommended to be as accurate as possible. All Wikipedia pages must belong to at least one category The   categorization  of articles should be verifiable and neutral. C ategorization  should generally be uncontroversial.  When categorizing articles, the most important thing is to define the characteristics of the topic.  2. Interesting point 'Diffusing Categories' was very interesting. The process of diffusion was interesting. It diffuse in such a way that subcategories belong to the parent categories or coexist. This does not mean that all subcategories function as "diffusion". This is called a non-diffusion subcategories. Subcategories defined by gender, ethnicity, religion, and sex should be subcategories that almost always do not diffuse. 3. W13: redirects (extra blogging)

Wikipedia: redirects The content related to the redirect mentioned in this lecture is interesting. A redirect page by itself does not function as a complete piece of content, but serves as a link for Wikipedia searchers to other articles related to the search keyword. In other words, there is no article on Wikipedia that exactly matches the keyword searched by the user, but it can be said to help users find the information they want by recommending pages related to it. I think redirects like this are an interesting feature. Because it can also help you discover information you never thought possible. For example, when searching for A, this is because it informs about 1,2,3 related to A, because after all, these 1,2,3 are also related to A, so that it fits the user's interest. In addition, I think that it provides an opportunity for users to think more extensively about certain information. In fact, I used to think these redirect pages were unnecessary because they didn't sh

Summary Wikipedia has a standard for classifying documents, and classification makes it easier and easier to find what you want according to related items. To find information effectively, we need to select categories well. Wikipedia is capable of top or bottom classifications, which make it easy to distinguish between the subjects, which must have a clear basis for classification. Interesting point So far, I have never used Wikipedia to look for articles using categories, but I learned that related content can be found quickly through classification, and it was interesting that classification had a solid basis and had to be neutral.  Discussion Point Classification is said to maintain a neutral perspective, but different people think differently. How can neutrality be established to be reasonable?

  1. This article is a guide to the proper use of Wikipedia's classification features. When naming a category, one should be particularly careful and choose its name accurately. Note that in many instances a topic category and a set category have similar names, the topic category being singular and the set category plural. General rules were largely intuitively easy to understand. This is a really subtle classification criterion. In cases where, for technical reasons, administration categories appear directly on articles rather than talk pages, they should be made into hidden categories , so that they are not displayed to readers. 2.   I find it quite essential to create the appropriate category when writing a new article. And user pages don't belong to any category. At first, when I made the article, I didn't put the appropriate category so it was framed as a non-category article. I realized that I had to put a category after seeing it. And in another article, someo

1. Summary As a human knowledge management project for all human knowledge, Wikipedia collects, processes, and organizes the knowledge of the past thousands of years and establishes a human knowledge base,  Classified by properties are used. It is based on the discipline and nature classification of knowledge, sorting out the knowledge of all mankind into a huge, but simple and efficient system. Wikipedia displays relevant information through navigation, subject index, subject catalog classification, entry alphabetic browsing, Q&A Q & A, entry search, new entries, recent changes, featured content, news dynamics, hot entries, and many more. Among them, the main means of performance is the classification catalog system and uses a variety of retrieval ways to cooperate and assist, to facilitate users to find, edit and read.  After reading "Categorization"  In Wikipedia, the criteria for "categorization" are the subject of the article. We can find information more conveniently through 'Category'. However, the caveat is that documents should be assigned to the appropriate categories. It also needs to be classified in a neutral light, just like when writing an article. For example, when we write an article, we need to support the categorization task as if we were identifying reliable sources.  2. Interesting points  I haven't fully understood Wikipedia's categorization work yet. But this isn't a big problem either. This is because other editors of Wikipedia can help and supplement the categorization process instead of me. Once again, Wikipedia's unique "collective intelligence" personality and advantages can be felt in all its processes (such as writing articles, editing articles, categorization, etc.).   It is also said that automatically moving and dele

W13 : 'Categorization' / 최재민

summary Categorization is a system that helps users find related topics faster. Nearly 200 categories will appear on your screen, and users can, of course, add new categories autonomously. Naturally, categories are not copied into categories above or below to avoid confusion. Categorizing categories is also systematized to make it easier for users to find. There are many categories that users can check and use. The category is reasonably helpful when users find the information or documents they want. interesting I think categories are a necessary system for using certain search and digital functions, as well as Wikipedia. However, it may be different how autonomous the user can use and control the category. Wikipedia's category is very impressive. Flexible categories can eventually create flexible search and study. discussion Well, actually, there are a lot of useful things about categories, but I think they can be toxic. Let me give you an example. If there are too many categories

W13 : After reading "Category"

W13 : After reading "Category" Shinhee Kim Summary A category is a grouping of pages with similar content. You can check the category at the bottom of the article page, and click on it to see more related content. It contains subcategories listing other categories that are further broken down, and Pages listing other namespaces. You can also search within categories, and when looking for categories related to articles, use the "What links here" tool to easily find items in a category. Among the contents of the category, the category that needs to be watched is included in the watchlist and the category is managed through monitoring. Interesting thing I learned The structure of finding specific articles within a category is very efficient. If you check the pages by searching within the category you need to research, you will be able to find the pages you are looking for and other helpful resources. I also discovered that there is a feature to hide categories.

W13 : After reading "Categorization" Shinhee Kim Summary Categorization is a system that helps you quickly find topics related to a page. Up to 200 category items can be displayed on the screen, and you can create new categories for yourself. It cannot be duplicated in the lower category and the upper category, and must be placed in the most detailed category to avoid confusion. Sorting categories is also designed to help you find what you are looking for much faster if you understand the set rules. The classification of management categories is divided into two types, which are divided into Administrative categories and Content categories. There are categories that you use to check the status of articles or categorize pages that are not articles, and there are categories that make it easier for users to find articles. Interesting thing I learned I found that you can also add category tags to files or images. It seems to be an effective management method. In addition,

W13: Wikipedia – Categorization

1. Categorization I learned that naming the articles is a very delicate process. For example, capitalization rules, singular plurals, uniqueness, modifiers, clarity, etc. should be considered. This is to effectively manage the numerous information and articles on Wikipedia. I think that strict categorization is essential in order to treat the same topic which have different names, the same topic which have similar articles, or related articles.   2. Redirection When publishing or editing wiki articles, and when searching for keywords, the phrase “redirection” and pages often appeared. I was curious as to why this was coming out, but it turned out that it was also category related. Also, the user page was impressive. It is interesting that Wikipedia can publish user pages in the form of any article in the encyclopedia. Naturally, user pages do not belong to any content category.   3.    ■ After reading "Categorization" 1. On Wikipedia, documents can be categorized using 'category'. We can easily recognize documents in this category. You can also use the Search tool to locate specific documents in a particular category, or click the category name added at the bottom of the Documents page to view a category page that lists other documents added to the category. Categories should be added by adhering to general and special rules. 2. We must have a clear reason when placing in each category. It must also maintain a neutral view. 3. As I read the category, I remembered the hashtag on Instagram. Hashtags also function as showing characteristics and types of posts. We add as many hashtags as we can, hoping that many people will come to their posts. What do you think about Wikipedia categories and hashtags on Instagram? How about adding as many categories of Wikipedia as possible like the hashtag on Instagram?

W15: What did I learn while editing Wikipedia? How is this assignment different from more traditional student assignments? Is it more fun? WANG XIAOLING, 왕효령

      1) Summary When I first edited Wikipedia, I was at a loss and ignorant. But in the slow editing process, Wikipedia has taught me a lot. For example, improve my English ability, and Wikipedia editing ability and so on. Let’s talk about editing capabilities below: ● In terms of entry content The content of the topic must be accurate and rigorous, and the entry information must be valid and strongly related to the entry. In the editing process, a neutral third party expression was adopted to objectively describe the facts and avoid perceptual and subjective narration. On the basis of accuracy and objectivity, enrich the information related to the topic from multiple perspectives, such as adding images. ● In terms of entry form The content of the full text must be clear and logical. Enables other users to work with easy-to-read text. The typesetting conforms to the general standard of Internet content publishing. The editing style of Wikipedia. Explains what DYK is not, and DYK's rules (for example, images, eligibility criteria, date requests, etc.). In addition, there are DYK's process and participants and so on. It's really interesting. 2) Interesting point It's been a while since Wikipedia was edited, and it was the first time that DYK knew about it in order to show new or improved content. After reading it, I feel very novel. Wikipedia is an ever-evolving encyclopedia, making Wikipedia's content increasingly rich and comprehensive. 3) Discussion point How do you feel after reading it? Do you think Wikipedia is powerful?

W13: Thoughts after reading "Wikipedia:Categorization" . WANG XIAOLING, 왕효령

  1) Summary This entry mainly introduces how to correctly use the classification function of Wikipedia. Navigation on the homepage and related pages of Wikipedia involves two manifestations of hierarchical classification and faceted classification. The classification search uses a combination of grade and hierarchy to distribute different items under different category systems according to the two factors of field and region. At the same time, sub-categories are used to divide the items again, and facets are used in the specific item pages. The form of classification realizes the redirection between related items, And at the bottom of the page, the classification of items is explained in detail, which greatly facilitates the use of users. 2) Interesting point In the user's search experience, Wikipedia uses a taxonomy to process items. At present, Wikipedia has a high reputation worldwide and has certain authority in the field of information services. 3) Discussion point In the pro

W13: After reading “Categorization” / 진신

Summary: Classification refers to the systematic division of articles, templates, user pages, and draft pages in Wikipedia. Every article must be classified. If no relevant category is found, you can create a new category. To create a category, first, add an article to that category. Do this by editing the article page. Add the name of the new category, (e.g.:  [[Category:New category name]]  ), and save your edit. The as-yet-undefined category name will now appear as a red link in the article's category list at the bottom of the page. Next, to create the category, click on that red link, which brings you back into the editor. Adding this new category into the appropriate parent category is much the same as with an article: at the bottom, simply add the parent category (e.g.:  [[Category:Parent category name]]    ), which should usually be a hypernym of the sub-category. Interesting: Because Wikipedia is a huge system. So each category is added and managed by volunteers. This giv

Categories are usually located at the bottom of the article page. You can link to other articles in the same field through the distinction of categories. At the same time, there will be detailed molecular categories under the category. In fact, classification in Wikipedia is not only for articles, but also for various media content. We also need to pay attention to classification when creating content on Wikipedia. At the same time, classification needs to be distinguished. After reading this article, I found that Wikipedia's classification is more complicated than I thought. From the article, I saw that Wikipedia is different from traditional library classification or website editing classification in terms of classification. It has its own sorting method. You can also find articles on the category page, and you can see the number and importance in the category. There are a very large number of articles on Wikipedia. Summary) Categorization is a kind of list for dividing topics, and it helps users find information easily. All documents must be in at least one category. Therefore, categories must be well chosen. How are the numerous articles on Wikipedia categorized? First, the category should be chosen as the most helpful topic when someone reads the article. And usually an article doesn't exist in both the top and the subcategories at the same time. If there are few documents in the category you have in mind, you should check to see if they belong to a subcategory. It is also important to maintain a "neutral" perspective when categorizing. New/Interesting things I learned) I learned that usually one document does not exist in both the upper and subcategories at the same time.  1. Categories are intended to group pages on similar topics. Categories help readers locate and navigate the topic area, view pages sorted by title, and find article relationships. When you click a category name, a category page appears listing articles added to a particular category.  There may also be a section listing subcategories of that category. Subcategorization allows you to organize categories into tree-like structures to support navigation. A key goal of a category system is to quickly inform readers who find similar topics. Lists and navigation templates provide functions similar to categories. But there is a difference. Be especially careful when naming categories and select the correct names. The topic category is singular and the set category is plural. All wikipedia pages must belong to at least one category. However, exceptions are discussion pages, redirection, or user pages. One way to ensure that the appropriate category already exists for a particular page is to c

 1. Summary Wikipedia has a function to classify documents. When editing a document about a country or theory, Wikipedia can do either a higher classification or a lower classification. This classification allows viewers to easily identify what major topics this document contains or what topics it covers. However, when using Wikipedia's classification function, there must be certain grounds for proper classification, and it must be neutral.  2. Interesting point It was interesting to note that Wikipedia, in addition to the general classification, collects short-volume snippets of documents and articles that need to be sorted out. Since it is an encyclopedia that utilizes collective intelligence, I thought I could access this classification to supplement documents that lack content. 3. Discussion point What classification of articles do you usually edit? I think there will be categories that each person mainly edits, such as psychology and music.

week8 - do you think that's enough? how many can be missing?

Summary) We lose a lot in one day. This is one of them. We are not perfect. But I try to make Wikipedia perfect. Can we make it perfect if we're not perfect? But we are available. It's not perfect for ourselves, but it's possible if we help each other. We can be the perfect thing to help each other. What we need is not a perfect self. It is to help each other become perfect. That is, cooperation. Cooperation makes us perfect. Interesting) We can make something perfect but not perfect. Precisely, apart from perfection, we work together to make something. We are not perfect but we can make perfect things because of that's why. What we need is not perfection. It is to understand each other and live a life that helps each other. This is the perfect thing we need to pursue. That's why we can create something that's not perfect but perfect. Question) But what happens if we're perfect? So we don't need each other? Or do we still need each other? If we need eac

week8 - do you think it is nearing completion?

Summary) It is almost perfect. This shows us what perfection is. So is our way of thinking, because this is perfect. Wikipedia would be perfect. Exactly because we want to be perfect, that's why we're trying so hard. I pursue perfection, but I cannot do it. But it's the perfect thing to go after perfection. Perfect but not perfect is not a contradiction. This is the height of perfection. Interesting) The definition of perfection was once again recognizable. It shows what perfection is. It's perfect, but it's not perfect. But it's not perfect, but it's perfect. This is exactly what we can look at now. Question) What do we need? Is what we need perfect? Or maybe it's perfect? Perfect is a good thing, but wouldn't it have a different meaning? If there is, what would it be? How do we know what perfection is? What is the height of perfection?

week8 - do you agree with his idea that our society is now having a cognitive surplus, and with it, the unprecedented ability to express ourselves and change the world?

Summary) We can live a rich life. We are inundated with information. But the quality is not good enough. It is a lot, but we have to think again about whether it is of good quality. This is a big problem for us. It's more than just quantity, it's quality. We are well aware of these things. What we need is to know properly. Simply knowing much is not important and what we need is knowing properly. Interesting) We live a life of abundant knowledge. It tells us a lot of things. We are rich but on the other hand poor. We have to think again about which is the right thing. Because this is what we really need. What kind of life are we living? Question) What do we need now? Which one should we look at? Will we ever be able to prepare for the future? What does the future ask of us? Could Wikipedia be the answer for us?

week8 - why is wikipedia so successful?

Summary) The key to Wikipedia's success is everyone's. Wikipedia does not belong to anyone. Wikipedia is valuable because it is precious to all of us. We are all masters and we are all managers. Also, we are all customers and we all get help. We know Wikipedia doesn't go under because it has these characteristics. Wikipedia is a great thing about this. Interesting) I was able to identify Wikipedia. Wikipedia is powered by this and has this value. It's us who gave Wikipedia these things. We made it this way and because we were there, Wikipedia is there. Wikipedia is with us. Question) How will Wikipedia ever be? What is Wikipedia's message to society today? Is Wikipedia important to all of us because of its influence? Where does Wikipedia power come from and what is Wikipedia's identity?

week8 - how important is improved communication for our lives?

Summary) Communication is the most important thing in our lives. If people meet, any communication is inevitable. This is an immutable law and we can always feel it. So what is communication? What power does communication have to rely on these things? We need to know the importance of communication. We need to be aware of the need for communication. We must be aware of the desperation of communication. What we need is communication and our lives would be difficult without it. Interesting) I knew the importance of communication. We can live because of communication. Communication is Wikipedia. Wikipedia is a place of communication. It is Wikipedia that communicates with each other, not one-way direction. We know the power of Wikipedia's communication. I'm also watching. Question) What does Wikipedia look like without communication? Is Wikipedia without communication the identity of Wikipedia? If there is Wikipedia because of communication, would all places with communication be

week8 - how come those ideas were so revolutonary?

Summary) This idea is very evolutionary. Because it was unimaginable before. We were able to be what we are by the imagination of these things. It was able to be this way because our imagination and technology were combined. We are living in a great time. That is why we must preserve these values and continue to look for such ways. This is the legacy of mankind and well worth it. We must continue to look into these things and find them. Also, we have to move forward with a continuous development. Interesting) Enlightenment is important in human history. I can live my life with a new perspective, and I have new values and goals. This is not just a development of technology and science, but a matter of the direction of mankind. Therefore, without such things, we could not have lived in this era. We are all human hopes and we can move forward with strength. We owe this era to enlightenment. This is our strength, direction and future plans. We must thank the Enlightenment. Question) What

week8 - why?

Summary) Wikipedia was created for a reason. That is quite different from what it is now. We can look at such things. Wikipedia has evolved against its original intentions. That's because people made it together. Wikipedia doesn't belong to anyone. Wikipedia was able to be this way with the power of all of us, not anyone. That is why initial intentions do not matter. However, the current appearance is important. Interesting) The initial purpose of Wikipedia is fascinating. This is quite different from what we know, so people's collective intelligence is great. There are Wikipedia because there are people. The greatness of Wikipedia is the greatness of Sarah. That's why we're going to have to keep building Wikipedia. We are part and parcel of Wikipedia. Question) What would have happened if Wikipedia had initially intended it? Did we make Wikipedia the way it is or did we make it? Can we also predict the future of Wikipedia? Or will it continue into the future just

week8 - what do you find most enjoyable?

Summary) Wikipedia is a funny thing. You can show off your knowledge and judge who is more accurate and correct. This is groundbreaking and beneficial to all of us. Someone may be right, but it may not be right. It is very important to tell us this. It is also very helpful for us to find clear evidence and sources of that. It is often said that logic beats logic. This is because there is no basis or source. Interesting) I could see the fun of Wikipedia. Wikipedia can become our playground beyond just any information-driven tool. Wikipedia has made our lives even more prosperous. We are experiencing the greatness of Wikipedia. That's why we should always be grateful to Wikipedia and try to protect him. Question) Wikipedia will also disappear one day. Then when will it be? For what reason will Wikipedia disappear? Can we see why it disappears? How will our lives change because of Wikipedia? We need to be able to think about this again. Wikipedia's influence is enormous.

week8 - what do you find difficult?

Summary) It is very difficult to find. Because Wikipedia is huge. But that's also possible if we all join forces. Because nothing is impossible in the world. Interesting) Wikipedia is great. There is no difference. It also surpassed existing encyclopedias. It's a hell of a thing. So we must not simply ignore Wikipedia, but deny it is a very powerful tool. We are feeling the power of Wikipedia. This is a huge thing. Question) What should Wikipedia do to disappear? What are the disadvantages of Wikipedia? To what extent is Wikipedia's power? Will experts use Wikipedia, too?

week6 - why do people contribute to wikipedia?

Summary) People like to post on Wikipedia. What is the reason? In my view, it is their intellectual vanity. People want to say what they know about something. Wikipedia is the perfect tool for such a thing. Each person has his or her own area of expertise. Wikipedia is a playground where such people can play freely in their respective fields. Interesting) Wikipedia's motivation is fascinating. People like to do something more than they think. That's why Wikipedia has been the most powerful tool to date. Question) What if people's interests diverge from Wikipedia? What is it that people don't look for? What can Wikipedia do to survive?

week6 - who do think edits wikipedia?

Summary) It's possible for everyone. It is possible even if you are not an expert in a particular field. Instead, this is possible if there is sufficient evidence and data. The Internet is rich in valuable resources. If you bring it right, a layman can become an expert. Also, if there is a problem, there is no worry. It is something that others in the field can freely modify it. Interesting) It's great that anyone can work on Wikipedia. Wikipedia is nobody's business. We can be free because it belongs to all of us. Anything is possible as long as it doesn't break simple rules. That's why something simple but great is possible. Question) What is the future of Wikipedia like? Will it continue as it is, or will it disappear in some circumstances? Wikipedia is now called the complete version of the encyclopedia. Then is it over as it is this the end?

week6 - how important are contributions of a single individual in the sea of collective intelligence?

Summary) The role of individuals is too tenuous in collective intelligence. But it would be huge if a huge majority could do this. We don't care about individual abilities. We can see the greatness of everyone working together. The content created by one expert can outperform a number of non-experts. That's why we can see the greatness of individual collective intelligence. Interesting) You can see the greatness of an individual. Individual greatness in collective intelligence is a tremendous thing. That is why we must share the power of collective intelligence. This is only possible when everyone is together. We need to move as a group. Question) What can beat collective intelligence? What are the disadvantages of collective intelligence? Collective intelligence looks perfect, but it is certainly problematic. Then for what reason does it happen?

week5 - do you think wikipedia is right to reject censorship?

Summary) I agree. The beginning of Wikipedia is to continue to the rules agreed upon by each other. That this was right is Wikipedia's record to date. Each person manages it himself and they carry on with their own rules. Wikipedia, of course, has its own management, but it's definitely something of its own. Interesting) Wikipedia should also be censored. In Wikipedia, censorship is important. Everyone writes freely, but we also need some kind of rule. Otherwise, there will be a situation that goes against Wikipedia's spirit. Question) Wikipedia is great. It is tremendous that users manage themselves. This is what censorship is for Wikipedia. They can be perfect to censor themselves.

week4 - what are the pros and cons of using Naver versus Google for research purposes?

Summary) The advantage of Naver is that it is specialized in Korean things. For about 20 years, Naver has become essential to Korean society. It is safe to say that you have all the information and it is the history of the Internet age. Google, on the other hand, is the source of the global Internet. It connects the world and is still used by many users. We cannot clearly distinguish between the advantages and disadvantages of Naver and Google. This is because the two have their own functions and roles and each works faithfully. Interesting) Naver came down from its unrivaled existence in Korea. Google also has a huge influence in Korea and we can see such things. For us, Naver is like Google and Google is like Naver. We appreciate Naver and we appreciate Google. Question) What will appear after Naver? What's next for Google? Will Google ever be able to take all the future?

week3 - how do we participate in Web 2.0? how do we create the modern day culture?

Summary) We communicate on the Internet. This is something that everyone thinks naturally but could not have imagined just decades ago. We must therefore be aware of the characteristics of these things. For us, the Internet is a huge thing. We should also know that communicating on the Internet is different from reality, but not different. The Internet is all owner and responsible. That is why we must be able to focus on the eternal. Interesting) I knew the Internet didn't have an owner. The Internet is something that everyone takes care of themselves. In other words, like nature, there is no owner, but everyone has to use their strength to protect it. That is why we need to know the culture and rules of the Internet properly and hard to follow. Question) What would have happened if the Internet hadn't been released for free? Did we still exchange opinions using letters and so on? Or did he use something better than the Internet? We should be grateful for the Internet and look

Summary) To solve the problem is of course, more users.Wikipedia is a good example.Wikipedia is the source is unclear, deleted or modified.Revised also unclear, and being revised. That is infinitely Park is these to many users. Interesting) It is amazing that it is solved because there are many users. It's all about managing everyone. It's not something you can do alone and you need everyone's power. Question) What happens if Wikipedia becomes unpopular? Will Wikipedia today last forever in the future? And what could be the medium for maintaining this collective intelligence if Wikipedia disappeared?

W13: The importance of Organization

Summary The texts on this week describe some of the Wikipedia’s efficient tools, Category and List, Navigational Template. Like the Internet is called a sea of information, there are a lot of information on the internet. However, most of them are poorly organized, we wastes a lot of time finding quality information. Wikipedia also has this problem. When you ask in natural language(ex: How's the COVID-19 confirmed trend?), Wikipedia cannot answer. So, Wikipedia is striving for a better analysis. One of the examples is organization tool: Category and List, Navigational Template. redirection is a blank page but send the reader to another article. or section of an article. For example, when search "kpop" in the Wikipedia, it redirect to "k-pop". disambiguation is used when there are several homonyms. For example, "Right" can be interpreted as both the kind of direction and idea such as human rights. Redirection and Disambiguation are not error. They c

I could learn about how to organize categories in Wikipedia through writing. In fact, I've been writing articles all the time, so I thought I only needed to classify articles. However, a few days ago, I published a picture of myself in a Wikipedia article, and I realized that I also categorize images. I became interested in classification after seeing more classifications than I thought. Files as well as articles and images can be classified in detail, and the method is described in detail in the article.  The most interesting thing is that the classification of articles should not overlap. For example, the article Paris does not require a "populated place in France" category if there is a "French city". I thought these two categories convey different information, but they overlap because the information "city" can infer that there will be a large population.  It was also interesting that the classification was not organized in alphabetical order, bu

 1. Wikipedia allows you to write articles about everything. A good article is an article with the necessary content. It contains verifiable information and is described as a reliable and appropriately copyrighted license image and has a broad and neutral perspective. Copyright should not be infringed. The spelling and grammar have to be correct so people can understand. The style guide line manual should be respected. And a good article must include sources of information. There should be no plagiarism. The content doesn't change much every day because it's stable. 2. I've thought about whether I'm editing articles well on Wikipedia. I try to comply with the above good article conditions as much as possible. I may have made some mistakes. But I'm still trying and I want to make good articles. 3. Is there any good article on Wikipedia you have seen?

W12: What is "quality" for our societies? / MINJEONG LEE

1. Summary Quality is largely subjective and relative. It doesn't always measure by the same standards, it depends on the times and society. In particular, the faster society develops, the faster the standards of quality change. I bought a MacBook Pro in 2019 and it was the best new laptop ever. However, now that the MacBook with the M1 chip has been released, my MacBook has become relatively low quality. 2. Interesting point Recently, there has been a movement in Korea that values "quality of life." People have various hobbies or pursue 'work life balance' to improve their quality of life. I think this phenomenon is also because standards of quality have changed as society has developed. 3. Discussion Most Koreans pursue a 'work life balance', but it is difficult to actually realize it due to overtime work. South Korea has long working hours in the world. Can't our society keep up with the times yet? I wonder if making a lot of money by working hard w

Summary) This article contains how articles generally grow on Wikipedia. Every article begins with the contributor's idea. When you want to write an article, you should first search to find out if an article on the topic already exists or not. Redirection is appropriate if the article already exists. Then how do you develop an article if it doesn't exist? If you don't have time for the whole article, there's a way to write a very short article, "stub." I can find a stub article and grow it, or other editors can grow my stub article. The "stub" article consists of only a few sentences, but I think it's a good attempt at writing an article because it's the beginning of an idea. How do you develop a great Wikipedia article that deserves to be included in the 'feature article'? First of all, further research is usually needed to write a good article. You may be well aware of the need to cite reliable sources that can be verified. If you v

I think that in any era, society, or group, the standard of 'quailty' exists as good/bad/normal. In general, if the quality is good, the probability of being evaluated positively is high, and if the quality is poor, there is a high probability that it will be evaluated negatively. But to the point, it is the probability. It may not.  Recently, the word “B-class” is used in front of various words. You've probably heard the word B-class content at least once. This means that it is more unnatural and less complete than A-Class, and its quality is inferior. However, this "B-class" is not evaluated negatively by people. It is intentionally intended to be Class B, not Class A. For those who accept, Class B is more fun and elicits a positive response. There are examples include LG Household & Health Care FIJI and Chungju City promotional posters . Good or bad quality can usually be determined by a number of people.  However, it cannot be said that the average qualit

W12: What is “quality” for our societies? / Lee ye han

Summary Usually, 'quality' is the evaluation of the level of good or bad for a good or service. Quality does not always have the same standards, but can always be changed and relative. For example, the latest smartphone purchased today is the best, but it will not be the best performance in just a year, and it may seem to be of poor quality. As such, standards for quality vary with time or with acceptors. Interesting point Our society pursues what is considered the best 'quality' of its time. So I think the development of the Internet and media has been able to achieve tremendous growth in a short period of time. Internet speed that used to be 2G and 3G exceeds LTE and can be used up to 5G now. As a result, people's lifestyles and behaviors have changed a lot from analog to digital. For example, the act of writing a letter or sending a text message is replaced by Kakao Talk or SNS messages.  Some people say that the "quality" of life has increased due to t

W12 how do wikipedians determine "quality"?

W12 How do Wikipedians determine "quality"? Shinhee Kim I think the source is the most important part of the Wikipedians when judging quality. No matter how new and good the content brought by that person, the quality will inevitably deteriorate if the content is not consistent with the content of the source or is difficult to trust when the source is actually entered. Even if the thesis is the same, the institution that issued the thesis is important, and I think it is important to distinguish reliable media companies among numerous articles. I think that these judgments judge the quality of writing according to the permitted ranges in accordance with their own cultural standards, as the categories allowed in the culture in which people live are different. Another thing I think is that quality is determined by whether it has various components that fit the subject of the writing. It will also be important to have the content that people can read and make correct judgments

In the 'Uncreated articles' stage, the subject of the article can be decided by the opinion of the contributor. Next, 'Stubs' refers to documents that contain short content and are likely to be developed in the future. And, most of the documents are included in 'Developing articles', and the quality of the documents should be improved. Finally, 'Featured articles' contains articles that are considered to be the best articles on Wikipedia. In order to improve the quality of the article, it is important to find good data on the subject of the article. In addition to researching materials online, you can visit the library in person to find in-depth materials. And it's good to keep getting feedback and improve it. 2. w12: What is "quality" for our societies?

∎ What is "quality" for our societies? 1. Quality refers to the total things that nature, value, usefulness, and rating of an object. In addition, criteria exist to determine quality. The criteria here are relative, not absolute. When asked to evaluate the quality of our society now, people will judge our society for different reasons. Each of these criteria is not a matter of right or wrong. It's just that each other's thoughts are different. However, I personally hope that when evaluating the quality of our society, we would like to evaluate non-material "value" rather than material. In modern times when capitalism prevails, people evaluate quality based on money. In that case, our society can focus only on matter, ignore the values beyond it, and live a desolate life. 2. It evaluated 'OECD countries' national happiness levels from 2018 to 2020. Here, the basic data of the national happiness index is based on gross domestic product, working hours

We often say that the pursuit of "quality" is a noble behavior. To understand this, we must start from the definition of quality. Quality is defined as "several inherent characteristics of the entity, the extent of satisfaction". This definition contains three terms, one "entity" one inherent feature, and one requirement. Let's look at how the three terms should be understood, which can help us correctly understand "quality." Let's first just understand the concept of an entity. An entity is defined as "anything perceived or imagined."Such as products, services, activities, people, organizations, society, … …Everything you can imagine can be called an entity. From this definition, we can think that small to a piece of paper, a cup of tea around us, big to our life, our career, our society is of quality. What is the "inherent feature"? Literally understood, we can easily define the inherent characteristics. The so-calle

W12 : What is "quality" for our societies? LiuXinlei

In terms of cultural content, it is difficult for us to define the quality of this thing from the perspective of time and the background of the times. In my previous understanding of linguistics, the meaning of discourse itself is not determined, and its meaning depends on the language environment when speaking. Over time, the language environment will be lost. Then the original meaning at that time is difficult to be restored. Moreover, in different times, people are limited in the dissemination of information, the scale of speech, the way of expression, and the technologies that can be used. In the law, there is a concept called "prosecution period", not to mention the ever-changing state of information culture and other content. When the Internet was just emerging in the world, the spread was very small, and everyone did not have the awareness of public space on the Internet, as if it was just a technical extension of personal social interaction. Moreover, there was a lac

What is “quality” for our societies?  Quality that can be described as "good, bad, best", etc. It generally refers to the level/evaluation of quality. And this quality changes every time. For example, while the first criterion for improving the quality of life was money, it may have changed its mind to health now. 2. Interesting points  How can Wikipedia 'quality' be evaluated? The quality of articles written on Wikipedia can be evaluated as good and bad. Wikipedia can immediately determine the quality of an article based on whether it comes from a source or not. As neutrality and objectivity are required in the article, personal views or blog posts are not suitable as sources. This is because official sources such as bibliography and news articles are much more reliable and objective than them. This is why it is important to reveal the source when participating as an editor on Wikipedia.   There are occasions when you can say, 'This quality is excellent!' to
