W2 : Why Wikipedia? - Park Chan Young (박찬영) LATE POSTING - ADDED
1) Summary
Wikipedia does not generate financial
benefits and consists of people's voluntary participation. The collaboration of
people who voluntarily gathered develops information little by little. Wikipedia
is easy for anyone in the world to access information. It also gave the right
to create, modify, and edit data. Because it is made by individuals,
Wikipedia's reliability can be questioned. However, misinformation can be
corrected quickly because many individuals participate.
2) Interesting point
It was interesting that fun accounted for a
significant portion of the reasons for participating in Wikipedia. I think this
is why Wikipedia can be maintained. There is a saying that genius cannot beat
those who try, and those who try cannot beat those who enjoy. It will be a more
powerful knowledge warehouse due to people looking for fun in Wikipedia.
3) Discussion angle
One of Wikipedia's characteristics is its
openness to anyone's participation. This openness fits the current situation in
which the value of sharing is growing. As the scope of the shared economy
widens and many people become accustomed to the lifestyle, Wikipedia, which has
similar characteristics, will also have greater power. I wonder what others
think about Wikipedia's future as it grows in a shared economy.
About 3)
ReplyDeleteI think Wikipedia will develop more and more in the shared economy situation! This is because people are getting used to sharing their knowledge and information as well as sharing material things in the stared economy. As I can find a lot of information on Youtube and Naver now, Wikipedia is likely to make a lot of progess.
