W3: What is Wikipedia / Lee ye han

Summary

Wikipedia, which has a vision of "Imagine a world in every single hman being can free share in the sum of all knowledge," is one of the most famous sites in the world. It is an online encyclopedia opened in 2001 with various languages and users.

On Wikipedia, anyone can edit or edit the article, so it is freely available.

You should not plagiarize when editing Wikipedia. In addition, biased or inaccurate information should be avoided.

New / Interesting things I learned

I learned many things because I don't know much about Wikipedia yet. The most fascinating thing was that Wikipedia warns itself when it writes plagiarized articles.

I thought it was a good rule to be warned several times due to plagiarism, which limits the right to write. Since anyone can edit the text freely, there may be problems with the revised content, but I thought Wikipedia's system would prevent the problem.

Discussion point

Why is Wikipedia less popular than other developed countries in Korea?

I think it is because there are many other famous portal sites in Korea. There are many sites that people already use as collective intelligence, such as Naver, Daum, and Nate.

I think Wikipedia is relatively unpopular because it is more familiar and easy to get information from the original use. For example, if you post something you are curious about to an '지식in', people who know it come and leave comments and communicate with the questioner. Or post about your experience or knowledge on a blog and people see it and get information. I think this way is too familiar.
