W3: What is Wikipedia? / Suyoung Han
What is Wikipedia?
1) Summarize – What is Wikipedia?
Wikipedia, one of the world's most famous
sites, is also large and has various languages as there are many users.
Wikipedia's vision has a dreaming a world where people are free of all
knowledge, which explains why Wikipedia is freely available.
However, there are some cautions when
editing a Wikipedia: Wikipedia topics should be famous enough to catch the
attention of the world, not side into one position, be quoting carefully, and
finally avoid plagiarism.
Through this learning, we intend to edit
Wikipedia in earnest.
2) Interesting items learned – A voluntary
contribution to knowledge (How do you feel that?)
It was very interesting that the editor didn’t
take ownership of what was written on Wikipedia. This consciousness came to me
very differently because it is contrary to modern copyright consciousness. I was concerned about this idea, because
if I didn't own the information, I would lose my competitiveness.
However, by voluntarily donating knowledge
by people, Wikipedia was able to grow and is favored as the most representative
information site in the modern world. As I thought about these results for
myself, I realized that sharing information with others rather than owning it
can lead to good results.
3) Discussion angle – Wikipedia's vision of
reality (Is this realistic?)
In my opinion Wikipedia's vision is realistic.
The method of acquiring knowledge is being developed so that users can easily
access it, involved in changes in tools. In the past, knowledge was acquired
through discovery or invention, or through direct experimentation, but
nowadays, information can be obtained simply by searching at home.
I think Wikipedia is at the center of this.
In particular, Wikipedia is growing with the development of the Internet, and
the information accumulated each time and the interface that is easy to use
will appear attractive to more and more diverse people. With these advantages,
Wikipedia will continue to grow, and I think Wikipedia will make their vision a
reality in the end.
I think Wikipedia's vision is a bit unrealistic. Wikipedia's vision is to share knowledge freely among all individuals. I think it will be difficult to become a website for ‘all individuals'. While technology advances and many people accept it well, there are also people who find it difficult to adapt. I think Wikipedia may be difficult to access for those who still have difficulty using the Internet. Wikipedia will develop for their vision, but isn't it difficult for 'all individuals' to share information through Wikipedia?

ReplyDeleteI think Wikipedia's vision is unrealistic yet. Wikipedia is said to have the authority to share and edit knowledge, but I think it is a difficult website to access.
ReplyDeletePeople who are familiar with Wikipedia think it is easy to access, but difficult to use unless they know it.
I think Wikipedia's vision should be more accessible for it to take place.
