w3:Chapter 1 Nazis and Norms
Wikipedia is a "free encyclopedia", made by selfless editors from all over the world, under a basic and rigorous organizational structure, with voluntary labor contributions. Its server, development, operation and maintenance costs are covered by online donations. According to official introduction, Wikipedia is the fifth largest website in the world, serving 450 million users every month, with billions of page views. However, the site has only 350 full-time employees, and they demonstrate to donors that their efforts are worthwhile by emphasizing the high efficiency and non-profit nature of operations. In terms of cultural dissemination, I think it surpasses any education. Just like me in a university education, I also hope that Wikipedia has the professional knowledge I need at the first time, because it uses a more comprehensive and reliable source than other sources of knowledge. The timely editing and authority of Wikipedia depend on volunteers' yearning for a cultural utopia.
In today’s world where diverse cultures coexist, we are no longer confined to the cultures of our region, but are exposed to more diverse cultures and external cultures. We are not familiar with those cultures, of course we are not. I hope that the beginning of my exposure to diverse cultures comes from untrue sources. The neutrality that Wikipedia is committed to is very precious today, and it also serves as a benchmark. As a Chinese, I regret that I often only receive information about one position. Everyone grows up in the same context and is affected, and there is only a single way of thinking. But I believe that the occurrence of an event is not only a color, it is put into the current time, it has its meaning, from a historical point of view, it is a node, personally, it The concept of is different from that of others. So I think Wikipedia is an organization that maximizes the universality of knowledge. This is also the best direction for the development of human culture in the future.
