W4. What are the pros and cons of using Naver versus Google for research purposes?

Naver and Google are specialized in different directions. Naver not only provides the data users want to get, but also contains stories of interest in various fields on the main page. Google, on the other hand, has a concise main page with its own logo and search engine. When searched, the page also shows the opposite appearance like the main page. Among the contents related to Naver, the so-called "Powerlink" that received the advertising fee is the first to be seen, followed by the associated links by classification. This means that Naver is shown to users after performing the first arrangement. Google, on the other hand, is very simple and regardless of the type of blog, site, or article, they are all listed in the same format in the order of most relevance.

These two conflicting sites have different strengths and weaknesses when conducting research. Naver can be checked by category on the integrated search page, so you can view by category at a glance. However, content that is not related to artificially entered advertisements can interfere with the search. Google appears to be the most faithful to the basics of search. Search results can be found without being biased toward a specific point of view. However, users need to make detailed settings in order to get what they want from that vast and diverse data.

Among these, there is a point to discuss about Naver. Naver is currently the number one search engine in Korea, but there have also been several ethical issues. Although it has disappeared now, there has been a controversy over the manipulation of real-time search words, and there is a lack of neutral attitude as a search engine, such as exposing articles in a direction biased toward specific interest groups to the main page when exposing various articles and articles. As users, we need to discuss how to view and consume these issues.

  1. Hi Shinhee Oh, I read your post well this week. As I read your post, I thought I should learn more about the pros and cons of using Naver and Google because I think I wrote them in much more detail than I did!

Also, it was interesting to hear about Naver ranking keywords among your posts. For Koreans, Naver ranking keywords were a routine check routine, right? I was very surprised to hear that it was going to disappear.
Yes, Naver ranking keywords were initially created for fairness and the people's right to know, but they changed as people began to be instigated over time. If it's going to be this controversial, it's better to get rid of it early, but I don't know, these days, I wonder what it would have been like to think about other areas instead of getting rid of I'm worried that with the disappearance of search terms, there are even worse rumors in communities and places like the community.
