W5: Thoughts after reading "The Challenges of Consensus". /WANG XIAOLING, 왕효령
1) Summary
Consensus is the best solution for making decisions on Wikipedia. Disputes on Wikipedia are resolved through editing and discussion rather than voting. The goal of the discussion is to reach consensus and resolve disputes through consensus. Of course, consensus is not something that everyone agrees to. Through adequate communication, if consensus cannot be reached, a vote can be initiated and the community will resolve disputes through a majority. But voting may help the discussion of a particular proposal, but it sometimes creates conflicts and disagreements. Therefore, the best way to determine consensus is to carefully read and understand everyone's point of view, no matter how different they seem on the surface. Consensus can be the best solution that can be reached in the open Wikipedia community by finding what everyone has in common and discussing instead of disputes.
2) Enlightened Point
I think most disputes are caused by the inability to properly resolve disputes, but we cannot force ourselves to change the habits and behavior patterns of others because of our disagreement. We need to treat each other with courtesy and mutual respect to avoid disputes.
3) Discussion Point
Can maintaining a neutral point of view also reduce unnecessary (malicious editing) disputes through the user's real-name authentication?
