W6: How important are contributions of a single individual in the sea of "collective intelligence"? / Park Chan Yonug (박찬영)

1. Opinion

It is the individual who creates and develops collective intelligence. Individuals and individuals gather to form a majority, exchange information, and organize knowledge. Thus, individual contributions are essential to creating collective intelligence. One of the important characteristics of collective intelligence is diversity. In order for diversity to be kept, many people's opinions are needed and it must be freely shared. Therefore, many individual contributions help group intelligence develop correctly. Many individual opinions in a group represent diversity. The higher the diversity, the wider the range of information. The quality of information is important in collective intelligence, but the amount of information is also important.

2. Discussion Point

Individual contributions are important, but there may be side effects. First, it is a problem when personal information is wrong. Modern collective intelligence interacts very easily and information is shared quickly. Wrong information can already be shared to many people before it can be fixed. Therefore, I think it is as important to protect professionalism as diversity. Sharing reliable information from individuals with expertise can improve the quality of information. In addition, professionalism and diversity must coexist properly to become a good collective intelligence. What are the ways to protect professionalism without harming diversity?
