Encyclopedic Anxiety

With the development of Wikipedia as an Internet platform, the requirements for volunteers on the editing platform have also increased. The success of Wikipedia has indeed had serious problems in the past ten years. People have defined Wikipedia as an epoch-making platform on the Internet, and Wikipedia has been pushed to the forefront of public opinion. There are criticisms and dislikes surrounding the development of Wikipedia, and even triggered a series of social reactions. People think that the dream of knowledge imagined by Wikipedia will eventually become a nightmare. I think this is because Wikipedia has shaken the authority of knowledge to a certain extent. As mentioned at the beginning of the article, when a professor recommends you to use Wikipedia, it happens to be defined as unreasonable.

Interestingly, those critics who criticize Wikipedia recognize that Wikipedia contains the enlightenment and modern values of contemporary knowledge work. They keep their own ideas. In my personal opinion, Wikipedia does have the state of knowledge in modern society and it also opened the precedent for the spread of knowledge on the Internet, but it cannot completely equate Wikipedia with modern knowledge platforms.

I think Wikipedia is still undergoing constant changes. We have to admit that some of the articles on Wikipedia are of very high quality, but there are also parts that are worthy of controversy. People cannot evaluate it unilaterally. We should not associate knowledge with hot events in communication, and pursue trends. What Wikipedia needs is long-term stable growth and development.
