Perhaps in its view, not only encyclopedias, but also a variety of content including dictionaries, books, news, etc., can be edited by wiki technology in a community. That's why Wikipedia has achieved great success in group co-editing, and the Wikimedia Foundation has also received sufficient operating funds by accepting donations. It seems that Wikipedia has gone beyond the scope of a technical name and has become an operating model. The characteristics of this model are: to build a platform for non-profit purposes, to provide corresponding content for the platform through the power of everyone, and finally to raise funds from the public through high-quality content to maintain its own operations. This is also one of the reasons for the success of Wikipedia.


2) Interesting point

From the perspective of sociology, the operating model represented by "Wiki" actually extracts two groups from the entire human race. One is to contribute content to the platform through collaborative editing, and the other is to provide funds through donations. Support the normal operation of the platform. But under the asymmetric cooperation of these two groups, the beneficiaries are the most extensive human group.
