W11: Wikimedia Commons
1. Summary: Uploading content to Wikimedia
I was able to see the general
information about the format and method of the content. In simple terms,
Wikipedia Commons is one of several wiki series, and is a site where media
contents are stored.
Content uploaded here must follow a
shareable license, and you cannot use other people's works without permission.
This is because the materials uploaded here should be freely available to
anyone, but bringing a work published by another person is an act of
overtaking.
In addition, I learned about details
about the resolution of the image I uploaded, but as anyone can think, it is
difficult to upload an image that is too large.
Of course, the resources here are
available on Wikipedia.
2. What helped
It was interesting about
categorization. The categories are subdivided deeper than I thought, so it's
nice to be able to put them in detailed categories when uploading certain media
content. As a huge amount of media has been uploaded, it seems to have been
subdivided into such a depth.
We can also publish this category
ourselves, in which case we just need to look at the structure of the other
categories and learn the rules and follow them.
In addition, the explanation of the
case where the image is blocked and invisible was also impressive. In
conclusion, the user's computer with the advertisement blocking program
installed recognizes the image as an advertisement due to specific words in the
address of the image and does not show it.
3. Topics to be discussed
What are the benefits that anyone can
get by uploading their own photos to a sharing platform? Also, can the licenses
of the images uploaded here be 100% completely managed? Can you perfectly catch
other people's content without permission?
