W10 : Can we think of some example of how internet has changed our culture? - KIM JINA
The Internet has changed our culture really quickly and variously. An example that is common around is "K-POP."
Unlike in the past, our culture is now spread to many parts of the world through various platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, and on the contrary, overseas culture is transmitted to Korea. Examples of Korean culture being introduced to the world and becoming famous include BTS and Black Pink. Thanks to this, many K-pop singers are moving beyond Korea and Asia to Europe and the United States. In addition, more and more singers are showing pop music with all the lyrics in English aimed at overseas countries.
On the contrary, there are cases in which foreign culture enters Korea. Through OTT platforms such as Netflix and Watcha, TV programs and movies that were popular overseas became easily accessible in Korea, creating another new trend. Popular styles such as "High Teen" and "Kitch" that are emerging in Korea have made overseas high teen dramas popular in Korea, and on the contrary, they have created new "High Teen" sensibilities in Korea.
Like this, the Internet changes our culture a lot. I hope that more diverse cultures will be created through the Internet not only in Korea but also around the world.
