W10 Can we think of some examples of how internet has changed our culture? / Han seung gu

Marshall McLuhan called the advent of new media and technology an extension of human sensory organs. So is the Internet. The advent of new media based on Internet technology is changing much of life.

First of all, it can be said that it replaces what was previously handled by offline media or is in charge of it more efficiently. E-mail replaced paper letters, and besides paper newspapers, I got used to getting the latest news on the Internet. Just as television has not disappeared, the advent of new media does not necessarily mean the regression of existing media, but reading and crumpling letters written all night has become a rather unfamiliar scene.

It is also noteworthy that the accumulation and sharing process of consciousness is taking place in a completely new form. Although it has been acquired mainly through books, newspapers, and broadcasting, the development of Internet media has created an environment where anyone can easily access the collected information and anyone can contain new information. This accumulation of information becomes a source of insight in the future.

Furthermore, the development of social media such as SNS has led to the prevalence of one-person media, which has led to an increase in the way individuals express themselves. This greatly influenced people's expression as the media, which was like a few exclusive possessions, spread to everyone. It makes it easier to express each personality, which has led to the personalization and fragmentation of society.
