W12 : What is “quality” for our societies? / Han seung gu
I want to talk about the quality that needs to be improved in our society. The quality that our society needs is "equality," "discussion culture" and "respects human right."
Equality
As democracy develops, everyone is said to be equal, but it is not. Many people are suffering inequality in a variety of ways. Information inequality, income inequality, and cultural inequality. As the capitalist society continues, polarization is getting worse and the value of equality is getting undermined. To improve the quality of society, narrowing this gap will be the most important.
discussion culture
Without a debate, we cannot make the right decision. Also, it does not come up with a decision that the majority can agree on. Only when there is a common sense and reasonable process can society develop. Debate is essential for this. We compromise through discussion, and we understand other groups. A society with the right debate culture is in a healthy state.
Human rights awareness
The most lacking thing in Korean society seems to be human rights awareness. We are busy fighting each other, spewing hatred every time. It comes in a variety of forms, including gender, generation, and race. In the end, no conversation will begin without respect for each other. The continuing feud makes society sick and exhausted.
