1. Summary
Wikipedia has millions of editors, more than the population of many countries. They make numerous articles. So, there is a section ‘Did You Know’ on the main page for promoting new quality articles.
DYK(Did You Know?)’s goals are showing new-various contents and acknowledging the contribution for Wikipedia.
To be nominated on DYK, the article must be met several criteria. For example, It must be at least 1,500 characters long and meet Wikipedia's policies. Of course, advertisement or a collection of general trivia cannot be nominated on DYK.
2. Interesting or New Point
I wondered who updates the ‘Did You Know’ section’s content. After reading this article, I was able to resolve the question. I thought this section seemed like a kind of advertising banner. Because it informs some of the content of the article who want to promote it through copywriting.
3. Discussion Point
Have you ever clicked on the DYK link? If yes, what attracted you? If not, what was the reason? I have experience clicking on the link. In the form of asking “Did you know?”, I became interested even though it is not an interesting topic. I wonder how your experience was. And more,What are the elements of Wikipedia that increase accessibility of various contents like DYK?
