W3. Why Wikipedia less popular in South Korea.../MINJI JEONG

-Why Wikipedia less popular in South Korea than in most other developed countries?

Why don't Koreans use Wikipedia?
First of all, I don't think the reason why Korea's Wikipedia usage rate is lower than other countries is because of the reliability of Wikipedia's information. In fact, I think any Internet site maintains a similar level of reliability and validity of information.

I think it's because of the presence of Naver and Kakao (next), the Internet platforms that Koreans are familiar with. People naturally find what is comfortable and familiar. The above-mentioned Internet websites are designed for Koreans, so they have an environment where they can search for the necessary information in familiar languages. It contains multi-dimensional information on the location of the hospital, how to use the government office, etc. from famous restaurants in the neighborhood. Furthermore, it contains various news about Korea. Familiarity and convenience have developed to create an environment in which Koreans can share various information on the platform. Therefore, I think Wikipedia has a small percentage of Korean users.
