W5. Do you think Wikipedia is right to reject censorship?

Wikipedia is the most ‘free’ encyclopedia, so many people should be able to participate comfortably. That’s why there should be no censorship of the content. In fact, Wikipedia continues to fight with censorship.

The Chinese government has a filtering system called the Great Wall, which automatically blocks search results that are considered anti-government or harmful information. China has tried to apply it to Wikipedia, but Wikipedia has expressed strongly not to give in to the Chinese government's censorship of the Internet. Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal in 2013, "Wikipedia will never respond to the Chinese government's request to restrict information." This is for human rights to enjoy knowledge and educational opportunities.
