W8. What do you find difficult and enjoyable?

Actually, I took a class ‘Globalization Sociology’ last semester, so I felt much more comfortable at editing Wikipedia articles. However, the subject I’ve chosen was not that familiar to me(Maker culture, Stereotype Threats), so I spent lots of time translating the article. I’m not really satisfied with my work, but I tried my best.

 1. Summary  The Internet has changed our culture so much. First, through the Internet, we can meet people regardless of distance. People in each country communicated over the Internet and reduced the barriers to distance by creating relationships. Also, the Internet has let us stay away from books. When we want to find expertise, we can get it from Wikipedia or Google. Even information in books can be obtained through e-books, reducing access to libraries and paper books. 2. 1. What did I learn while editing Wikipedia?  The most important thing I learned from editing Wikipedia is the joy of participating in collective intelligence. Before the class, I only used Wikipedia. But I was given the opportunity to edit Wikipedia through class. It is difficult than I expected to edit a steady every week. But I was pleasantly able to edit the idea that my hard work contributed to making a better encyclopedia. The joy felt when I found a topic that lacked explanation became the driving force for editing. I thought it was a small group of people and I thought it was their job to create a collective intelligence. However, as I edited, I realized that spontaneity and enjoyment were very important factors in creating Wikipedia. 2.
