This is a list of known historical pranks made by Wikipedia. It is not for a known lie, such as the Filtdown Man, which is remarkable in their own right. Its purpose is to document deception to improve our understanding of Wikipedia and our ability to detect them. Defamation, vandalism, and honest factual errors are not considered pranks. Because many fake things are not being found.

You can add manipulations to a page. Don't list realistic articles about Wikipedia April Fool's Day pranks or encyclopedically notable pranks. Start/Delete Date and Length are the days and approximate times when documents are typically displayed. While most of Wikipedia's pranks are short-lived (90% of the pranks found are flagged within an hour of creation and only 1% last more than a year), the pranks that pass the initial screening continue to survive and remain part of Wikipedia for much longer.The probability that it will last more than a year is 18%. Compared to failed manipulations, successful long-lived manipulations are more likely to include "Wiki-like" indications and include links to other articles on Wikipedia.
