W1 : Living together / Improving English skill
∎ Why are you taking this class?
∎ What practical skills do you expect to gain from
attending it?
1)
About
a person : Together
I can’t forget what my teacher said
when I was young while learning Chinese characters ‘人’, which means
‘person’. The Chinese characters, which look like two people leaning against
each other, show how we should live. There is something we have heard at least
once in our life. "People are social animals." This means that,
similar to ‘人’, a person can’t live alone and is an
animal that confirms its existence in interaction with others. We even now live
in a community of family, friends, school, furthermore Korea.
2)
Advanced
Technology : Overflowing Knowledge
Unlike in the past, when we only
accepted information, technological advancement allows us to provide
information and to accept information. With the environment where information
can be easily handled, people are actively generating information. As a result,
the word "sea of information" appeared, and furthermore, the word
"flood of information," which means overflowing information, was
created.
3)
The
knowledge that we generate together.
Under these circumstances, an online
encyclopedia called "WikiPedia" was created, which allows anyone to
write freely. Unlike the encyclopedia compiled by experts, wikipedia is that
readers write, modify, and supplement the contents themselves. Wikipedia is a
suitable for the term 'collective intelligence'.
We often use this collective
intelligence in our daily lives. For example, it is especially used when faced
with problems in various activities such as team projects and clubs. We talk a
lot with others to solve the problem and find a good solution to overcome the
crisis. Other people suggest new ways that I didn't think of, and we move in a
more positive direction together.
Having experienced a lot of collective
intellectual power, I became interested in Wikipedia, an encyclopedia made by
many people, and participated in classes.
Also, even though I have learned
English since elementary school, English always feels difficult. I hope that
this lecture will improve my English skills such as listening and writing by
faithfully conducting Wikipedia and blog assignments.
I agree with the reference to the flood of information. The unnecessary information that is so prevalent in the world is burying important information that people should be interested in. I think it's getting worse because of social media.
ReplyDeleteI also posted on my blog, and I'm looking forward to how much my English will improve! Of course, it is not a lecture for English skills, but I expect that I will be able to grow in all aspects if I work hard.
I can no longer agree with your understanding of the relationship between people. Maybe it is because people rely on each other to become a society, and these are what we are learning, and we hope that through this lesson we can use more diversified To look at this society from a different perspective, good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteIn the era of super-personalization and living together, it means opposite to each other, but it coexists in our society. Therefore, I greatly sympathized with the shape of Chinese characters “人” that writer mentioned. I also agree with the statement that we live in a “flood of information”. Not all information is correct and will not be useful to us. Through the class, I want to develop the ability to selectively acquire information from a lot of information.
