W2: Good Faith Collaboration: The Culture of Wikipedia and Mitch Resnick’s TED video
Good Faith Collaboration: The Culture of Wikipedia:
After reading 'Good Faith Collaboration: The Culture of Wikipedia' my thoughts..
In this era of internet, everyone has a platform to express their opinions. Any thoughts and opinions can be posted online through comments, and people all over the world can see those comments, which was unimaginable before. As everything has two sides, the disadvantage of internet shouldn’t be ignored. The Internet has a free and anonymous environment, which gave birth to the existence of “Keyboard Warrior” to unrestrained rumor-mongering on the internet, and those false comments fool you into believing false information. Through "Good Faith Collaboration: The Culture of Wikipedia" (Good Faith Collaboration: The Culture of Wikipedia) this book has given me a clearer understanding of reviews, the advantages and disadvantages behind this new type of communication.
In addition, in this book, Joseph Reagle also examines the Wikipedia community composed of Wikipedians, who "show sincerity" when interacting with each other in a cooperative culture. The special feature of this sincere cooperation culture exists not only in the writing and editing of articles, but also in their discussion pages and edit histories. Keeping an open perspective on both knowledge claims and other contributors, Reagle argues, creates an extraordinary collaborative potential.
Wikipedia's style of collaborative production has been imitated, analyzed, and satirized. Despite the social unease over its implications for individual autonomy, institutional authority, and the character (and quality) of cultural products, Wikipedia's good-faith collaborative culture has brought us closer than ever to a realization of the century-old pursuit of a universal encyclopedia.

watching Mitch Resnick’s TED video...
Professor Mitch Resnick in the video table is:
1. Draw an analogy between reading and writting. When you learn to read and write, you have more opportunities to find out more. When you learn how to read, you can learn by reading.
2. Understand that the propose of learning something is to learn meaningfully, and this is the best way to learn. This way of learning is meaningful and motivating.
3. When you can read and write proficiently, it does not mean that you have to become a professional writer. Only a few people become proficient writers, but learning to read and write is useful for everyone.
In the same way, learning programming is not to become a programmaer or computer expert, but to express thoughts and feelings freely in learning programming languages. In this process, you can learn how to simplify and decompose complex problems, how to find and correct mistakes when they make mistakes, how to face setbacks when they fail, learn to think creatively and reason systematically, etc.
