W2: My opinion about Resnick's one / Have you used Wiki before?
1. My opinion about Resnick's one.
Mitch Resnick insisted that "Let's teach kids to code". The main basis of his argument is that learning how to code is not for becoming computer experts, but for understanding the world deeper.
I also agree with his opinion. And there are 2 reasons.
The first, learning how to code means that we learn the computer's thinking method. That's important, because not only they are in digital generation, but they can be more creative by learning it.
The second, knowing how to code can become a power of knowledge. In the past, it was the privilege of the power elite to know texts. However, in modern society - especially in Korean society - illiteracy is almost gone compared to the past, so writing is no longer the property of the ruling class. However, if coding is not taught to children, coding will also be exclusive to a particular class of experts. To prevent this, we should teach kids to code. At the same time, we should recognize that not all kids become computer experts.
2. Have you used Wiki before?
I am not familiar to using Wiki, because Wiki is not main search engine in Korea. Most Koreans use more Naver than Wiki, and so do I. But I have an experience which I used similar one to Wiki. That is called 'namu-wiki'. It is a Korean language Wiki based on the seed engine, and established April 17th 2015. As you can see its official slogan(namu-wiki, the tree of knowledge which is grown by your spontaneity), It is expended by participation of various people like Wikipedia. I have usually used this one, when I watched movies or dramas. There is a lot of information that I didn't know even after watching all the movies and dramas. It was an great opportunity to experience the power of collective Intelligence.
I also use Namu-wiki when I try to understand the meaning of movies, dramas and games. I think Wikipedia and Namu-wiki have a lot in common but they are different in the neutrality. People can post and edit something on Namu-wiki with their own opinions so many posts on Namu-wiki are subjective. Therefore, I think we should be more careful to get some information from Namu-wiki.
