 Why Wikipedia?

1) Summarize – Why do we understand Wikipedia?

Wikipedia which looked like an unstable tower built by educated people in the past has received a completely different evaluation in modern times. Wikipedia is not only evaluated as an interesting activity, but also favored as a huge production involved in people's lives and cultures.

Today the use of Wikipedia has been regarded as the most representative method of using digital tools, and we want to understand the advantages of Wikipedia more and more through this class.

2) Interesting items learned – Digital illiteracy (With Ted video – Would you agree with?)

Through the Ted video, I realized that the current young generation is very good at dealing with digital tools, but is close to practical illiteracy who does not know how to apply them well. I also learned the difference between knowing how to handle digital tools and being fluent. In the video, being fluent doesn't end with learning, but rather expressing, realizing, and using it as an opportunity to grow oneself.

Through this video, I realized that learning Wikipedia is not just an opportunity to work on a wiki, but also an opportunity to express what I want to the world.

3) Discussion angle – Is “theoretical” knowledge is really useless? (Would you agree this?)

I oppose that the theoretical part is useless. In college, students usually learn theoretical classes in the first year, and in the rest of the year, practical classes are being taught in my major. Since there was no case of using theory while practical classes, I thought that the theoretical class was not useful either.

However, my internship changed my mind. In the work, theories laid the cornerstone of the proposal, sometimes became the most important evidence for persuasion, and also became an essential concept point. Through the way theory was welcomed in business, I realized that the theory can be used in a variety of ways rather than ending with 'theory'. Therefore, I’m positive for the theoretical class.

Comments

  1. I was very interested in reading the content from the 'digital illiteracy' covered in the Ted video. I thought that the younger generation could learn and use technology well and handle it skillfully, but I learned that they are having difficulty in developing and applying technology.
Also, I think the theoretical knowledge learned in class is useful. I also had an internship in the media department. Of course, the media department used a lot of media-related terms. I was a bit familiar with the terms I learned in the media class, so I was able to adapt more easily. So I think the theoretical knowledge I learn in class is more often beneficial to me.
