W3: (Extra credits) Thoughts after reading "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life" 2 - ‘Believe in the role you play’
●W3: Thoughts after reading "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life" - ‘Believe in the role you play’.
The big theme discussed in the first chapter of "The Presentation of Self in Everyday Life" is "performance". Expanded with many subtitles to explain various concepts related to performance. Today is about the first chapter-"Believe in the role I play" my own thoughts.
1) Belief
Belief is the psychological foundation of both parties that the entire performance is maintained. But there are two extremes of belief. One is that the performer himself believes in his performance, It's called ‘sincere’. The other is that the performer does not believe it himself, and does not care about whether others believe it or not, thus presenting an image of "cynicism". Cynicism does not have to be self-serving, and there are many examples of how its interests can vary. "Sincere" and "cynicism" as two paragraphs may tend to loop.
2) The reason people need social and friendship.
If the individual maintains a performance in front of others that he does not believe in, then he may experience a special kind of "self-alienation", and he may also have a special interest in "suspicion" towards others. So in this small part of the chapter I have realized the reasons why people need to be social and friendship. People need an audience to show their flashy selves, and they also need theater class colleagues to gain conspiracy closeness. Perhaps in many cases, we are performing ourselves for others, but whether it is a performer or a role, we will eventually find ourselves in all kinds of dramatic effects.
3) problem: why do people need to perform?
After reading this, I thought about questions, why do people need to perform? How can I find my role? How can you complete an outstanding performance?
