Summary

Wikipedia is not just an online encyclopedia. It is a community in itself and an encyclopedia. The conversation between people on Wikipedia is constructive, sometimes profound, and even excited. Contents in here introduce the cooperation of the Wikipedia community, "good faith" culture.

Wikipedia was able to be created thanks to Wells' suggestion that world scholars and international technocrats gather to produce easily accessible resources in a format that is personal, inexpensive and portable for all students. He wanted the encyclopedia to look at world problems, considering the mental wealth of the world we live in as a common good. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia based on 'Online Wiki' that was created by these efforts. Various editing functions were placed within the wiki, allowing information to be modified from time to time, and eliminating asymmetry between information. As of 2009, Wikipedia has more than 10 million articles in 260 languages and more than 75,000 accounts that write articles.

Wikipedia also shares feelings with each other. They express praise and kindness in articles, and they freely exchange these things. In this regard, Wikipedia, unlike other communities, is dynamic and self-reflective beyond static text.

Interesting

It was impressive that Wikipedia was initially designed to help students learn the news of the world and the knowledge adults have in a convenient and portable way. As Wells said, not only adults, experts and whites have access to knowledge. Students, ordinary people, and black people can also generate and deliver information. So many people around the world now believe that it is really desirable and should continue to be more active here in Wikipedia.

Discussion

Although the percentage of people using Wikipedia only for white men and professionals has decreased compared to the past, the majority of Wikipedia accounts are still white (or white men). What will be needed to enable a wider variety of people to participate in Wikipedia?

    I think should lower the hurdles to start editing Wikipedia. When someone first enter Wikipedia, they don't catch where the edit button is. They don't think they can contribute for Wikipedia. It is necessary to promote Wikipedia editing methods and Wikipedia's charming point on various websites.
