W5.2 The Benevolent Dictator / Kim Yoon(김윤)

Summary

This chapter covers the leadership and its role in Wikipedia. There are times when unanimity is not reached in the process of reaching an agreement, or when a desirable agreement is not reached, the need for a "benevolent dictator" emerges. Such leaders have a lot of influence on the culture of the community, where leaders do not appoint things but act themselves out of action. They play a role in helping people do better work and find the best way to do important things. They also play a role in ensuring that decisions made by the community can be made in a reasonable way. However, a dictator who is considered gentle (or considered) may not think he is biased and wrong. The writer said that's why (s)he hesitates to become a dictator.
A dictator should be able to reconcile as much as possible the numerous people that exist in Wikipedia, such as those who are irritable, passive, and those who have a certain philosophy. A benevolent dictator who exists unofficially in Wikipedia leads and mediates communities through soft power.

Interesting

I thought that a "dictator" on Wikipedia or anywhere would not be welcomed in the community. But the image of them on Wikipedia seems a little different. Also, looking at the examples that appeared in this article, I thought that the role of a dictator as a mediator would be very important.

Discussion

What do you think is different between a dictator in Wikipedia and a dictator elsewhere? And is it only the role of a dictator in Wikipedia that matters in Wikipedia?
