W6:Why do people contribute to Wikipedia? They are not getting paid... /진신

Wikipedia is a "free encyclopedia" and also a "free encyclopedia". It has always maintained the promise of "free to everyone", no capital, no advertising. Wikipedia's income comes from charitable grants and user funding. Last year, Wikipedia raised 120 million U.S. dollars in "charity", of which more than 85% came from spontaneous personal donations.[1]

The mission of Wikipedia is to transfer all the knowledge of the world to everyone in this world in native languages.  The sole purpose of the Wikipedia community works together to create this free and highest-quality encyclopedia. Wikipedia knows its own philosophy and essential purpose, and ensures that everything it says and does be true to this philosophy. What makes a product power is not its scale and strength, but it's culture, a kind of solid value and beliefs. Only when individuals trust this culture or organization, they will be prepared to take personal risks to promote the overall development of this culture or organization. Because of trust, they will believe what you will do and what you will not do. Every career needs people who agree with your philosophy. Only in this way, they will have taken the initiative to promote it for you, without reminding or rewarding. If they truly agree with your ideas, then they don't need motivation at all. They do this because they are enthusiastic, and this kind of willingness does not need to be paid in exchange.

As a journalism student's perspective:

At a time when fake news and conspiracy theories are flooding social platforms, the pursuit of a neutral and more credible Wikipedia is a quiet corner of the information storm.People find the refuge of knowledge in it.

questions:

Why are many people willing to answer questions on Zhihu but not edit Wikipedia?
