Why Wikipedia is the most efficient of all attempts to collect and organize?
- The Nature of Wikipedia and Its Differentiated Strengths
Wikipedia has been reborn as a representative information retrieval site in a new online environment based on information accuracy and reliability. Wikipedia's original goal was to give people a lot of accurate information in various languages. But early on, processing vast amounts of information was bound to run up against the wall of limits. However, Wikipedia's unique strengths have made it available to many people, such as being able to access all articles/academic materials on the site for free and being able to participate directly as an editor.
When asked in an interview if he believed people would voluntarily take the time to collaborate with Wikipedia, Jimmy Wales said he didn't know what to do, but he found faith in people who were happy just by sharing knowledge. Based on his beliefs, it is no exaggeration to say that Wikipedia today is a site where the modifier "the sum total of human knowledge" fits.
Discussion Point
As I said earlier, Wikipedia also supports in a variety of languages. However, the number of data varies from country to country. What do you think is the cause of this? Processing vast amounts of information will no longer be a problem for Wikipedia. So is it about participants from each country participating in Wikipedia? Tell me what you think.
