W10: Who is affected by the digital divide? Can we think of some groups? / 진신

I think that the digital divide is not the elderly, but they need. In the digital age, our lives have been surrounded by the Internet, but these things are still happening in invisible corners. (example)

an activity center refused to participate because the elderly’s mobile phones could not scan the health code (the QR code of the corona test results in China in Corona environment).’
‘an elderly person bought snacks for his grandson because he paid for it in cash, and was told by the cashier not to accept cash (according to the data, the penetration rate of mobile payment in China is the highest in the world. Alibaba pay, WeChat pay and other mobile payment software is popular in China)’

While the continuous development of digital technology has brought the rapid advancement of the entire society, it has also left a deep "digital divide" behind. For a long time, the social ecology established by the rapid development of the Internet has made it impossible for some people, especially the elderly. Nonetheless, it seems that the entire society has ignored the existence of such a phenomenon. Only when this news frequently appears before our eyes, we suddenly realize this important issue. While enjoying the convenience brought by the Internet, our people seem to have forgotten those elderly people who have been left behind in the digital age and the long digital divide that is forming.

Behind the needs of users is personal development, and everyone's development has a clear curve. The development curve of the elderly is flat and there is no rising shape. Because their acceptance of new things is very low. Although the development curve of the elderly is almost flat, this does not mean that they have no needs. Only in the past, their demand value has not been discovered.

However, with the development of the Internet economy so mature today, the increment (uninvolved areas) has begun to slow down, and the competition among the stocks (in the areas that have been involved) is ongoing. The elderly, a depression of value that has not yet been fully explored, will gradually become the next high ground for enterprises to pursue with the support of policies from various countries.

Discussion:

Do you think the continuous increase in supplies for the elderly will reduce the further deepening of the digital divide?
