W14 After Reading - Wikipedia:Did you know

Summary

Wikipedia is a site that aims to be an encyclopedia of various fields, and numerous articles are created every day. Among them, DYK is the main page for showing new content to people. In order for an article to appear on DYK, it must be written within 7 days, meet a set of standards (quantity, citation, copyright compliance, etc.), and user approval is required. However, rather than posting only the top-level articles, articles that guarantee a certain level of quality and show people a new look are posted. You can request that you recommend your own writing or someone else's well-organized writing and post it on DYK. Discussion of the project can take place in DYK, and there are Prep areas and Queues to prepare before being shown on the main page.

Interesting thing I learned

I have been using Wikipedia for a long time, but the function of 'Did you know' is new to me this time. Because Wikipedia contains so much content, there were times when I didn't know which material to look at, but if you use DYK well, you can get useful information. Most Wikipedia users do not seem to know much about DYK because they often come in to search for specific words and obtain information rather than to the main page of Wikipedia.

Discussion

In order for people to use the DYK page more, how would you like to appeal? I am curious about various opinions that can actively utilize images or reflect the latest trends.

Comments

  1. As citizens, we should abide by national laws and regulations. In Wikipedia, rules and regulations of Wikipedia must also be observed.DYK can better help us use Wikipedia.

  2. In order for people to use DYK pages more, I think it is necessary to promote the features within Wikipedia. Promoting the purpose of this page or the benefits of the article will attract more people's attention. Also, I think it would be good to have a high-profile image to make you more interested.

  3. I think a little nudge could increase the use of the DYK page. For example, growing the title(“Did you Know”)’s font size or changing the DYK banner’s location. It's enough to change a bit the design to attract attention rather than add a lot of things.
