What did I learn while editing Wikipedia?
How is this assignment different from more traditional student assignments? Is it more fun?
Before I took this class, I knew about the existence of Wikipedia, but I didn't know how to edit it or how to use it. During this class, I learned about Wikipedia editing methods and learned about Wikipedia rules and characteristics through trial and error by editing Wikipedia articles 10 times a week.
At first, I was not used to it, so I found it difficult to edit Wikipedia every week. I tried my best, but sometimes it was returned because it didn't comply with the rules. Whenever that happens, I took the class again and asked the professor questions to find a solution. In this part, I learned the attitude to explore and learn about what I don't know. I felt this was the most different thing from other assignments.
I read so many different kinds of articles while editing Wikipedia every week after week. I read various articles while thinking about what to edit and how to do with the assignment, and thanks to that, I was able to learn new information and gain knowledge.
And as I edited Wikipedia, I put more importance on accuracy and source when I write.
Wikipedia is a site with quite thorough rules and systems, so it had to write clearly from a source, and it needed a source of information. As I edited this part myself, I felt the value of reliable writing, and I thank you for this part because I think I value reliability when I read and write. I think it will be a good habit.
I've been learned more about Wikipedia for a semester. It was a very new and interesting time.
I'm happy to edit Wikipedia that I didn't know how to use. I think I can use Wikipedia effectively even after class, thank you for the opportunity to learn more about Wikipedia.
I only knew the name of Wikipedia like you, but this is the first time I've learned how to use it in detail. And I think every student in this class probably made a mistake once while editing Wikipedia, but I think everyone has been able to grow a lot through these mistakes.

ReplyDeleteYe-han, I enjoyed reading your blog posting. It was an opportunity to get a closer look at what you felt and learned through this class.
I also have experienced the "trial and error" you mentioned countless times. Due to certain rules I am not familiar with, my regular 10th edition has been partially deleted, and there have been many times where I have not been able to completely insert quotations for credibility in each sentence.
However, I think that if it hadn't been for this little coercion of "classes," I would not have dared to participate in the editing of a site called Wikipedia because of the above problems.
By participating directly despite these difficulties, we eventually became people who use Wikipedia well. Also, haven't our writing skills improved naturally? Congratulations on your progress.
