W2 : Why Wikipedia? / Chaeeun Park

1. Summarize - Why do you think Wikipedia is becoming more accepted?

People are no longer waiting for information. If there is any information you don't know, you can find information anywhere without any space-time

It is easy to access information that you don't know and can determine it. Many people seem to use Wikipedia in that it is a huge encyclopedia over the Internet.

So, why is Wikipedia becoming more accepted?

The great advantage of Wikipedia is "participation". All modern services emphasize customer engagement. Wikipedia is far ahead of other information sites in this regard. For example, if we open a paper dictionary, how boring it is. But it's interesting happen to think that we can see what we've written and edited and that others can get information from what I've written.

2. An interesting point I learned – Example of Wikipedia use

It's about increasing Wikipedia reliability. In fact, most Koreans have come through Naver when they get information. Naver has a function called 지식in, and experts or ordinary people answer questions they don't know. It is similar to Wikipedia in this respect. If Wikipedia improves information reliability and accessibility, it could replace Naver's 지식in function.
