W6. Who do you think edits wikipedia? the young, the old, male, female, Americans, Koreans..?

In terms of gender, the male edits Wikipedia more. According to a 2011 study, "90 percent defined themselves as male, 9 percent female, and 1 percent as transsexual or transgender." Also, it found that 9% of Wikipedia's modifiers are women and 91% of men. This study says the number of female contributors is steadily increasing every year. However, a 2009 Wikimedia Foundation survey claimed that the proportion of female editors was less than 14 percent, indicating that fewer women were modifying Wikipedia.

Also, in terms of age, I can’t find scientific data, but I think the young more work in Wikipedia. Because their internet accessibility is much higher, so they feel easier to write or edit articles.

1. What did I learn while editing Wikipedia?  The most important thing I learned from editing Wikipedia is the joy of participating in collective intelligence. Before the class, I only used Wikipedia. But I was given the opportunity to edit Wikipedia through class. It is difficult than I expected to edit a steady every week. But I was pleasantly able to edit the idea that my hard work contributed to making a better encyclopedia. The joy felt when I found a topic that lacked explanation became the driving force for editing. I thought it was a small group of people and I thought it was their job to create a collective intelligence. However, as I edited, I realized that spontaneity and enjoyment were very important factors in creating Wikipedia. 2.
